If you’re in the very early stages of planning your new kitchen, bookmarking ideas and finding styles that you like to suit the space you’re renovating is just a fun thing to do. Besides that, it’s a great way of collecting ideas to share with your kitchen designer, so that they can get a better sense of your tastes and requirements.

But where do you go for Kitchen Inspiration? If you’re wondering where on earth to look, here are some of our favourite online resources, brimming with interior inspo.

Pinterest

Pinterest is the original scrapbooking site, where you can browse through million of images to find the ones that jump out at you – and then ‘pin’ them to your ‘boards’. There’s no limit to the amount of boards you can have so if you’re planning a kitchen renovation, you could either just create a general ‘kitchen’ board to keep track of all your ideas – or, if you want to be more specific, you can create boards for each element of the room e.g. kitchen cabinet styles, colour schemes, worktops, hardware, flooring, appliances etc.

Houzz

It may not be quite as colossal as Pinterest but Houzz is another useful website to use for scrapbooking or bookmarking ideas. Unlike Pinterest, it’s 100% focused on home improvement – so you’re less likely to get distracted by slow cooker recipes and vintage clothes ads. Instead of saving ideas to a board, images can be saved in your ‘ideabooks’ and, when the time comes, you can also use Houzz to approach local kitchen design professionals whose work you like the look of. If they’re available, they’re likely to arrange a design consultation with you and offer a quote based on requirements. If you’re happy with the quote, you’ll be able to move on to the design stage of the process, already armed with lots of ideas in your ‘ideabooks’ ready to pass on to your kitchen designer.

Instagram

Hashtag kitcheninspo, Hashtag kitchenlove, Hashtag realkitchensofinsta – although this may look a bit ridiculous in this context, on Instagram hashtags such as these will open you up to a veritable feast of interior inspiration for your kitchen. Any inspirational images on insta that you wish to keep to earmarked for future reference can be saved using the bookmark icon found beneath the post. These will then appear in the ‘Saved’ section of your account for you to look back at.

Kitchen Designers

Most kitchen designers will have a website and on that website they’ll have a portfolio showing their completed kitchen projects. This doesn’t mean you necessarily need to hire that particular kitchen designer but bookmarking these images in your browser will give you some useful material to share when it comes to the design stage. If you do choose to hire the designer whose work you’ve admired, they’ll easily be able to recreate the elements of the designs you like and customise other parts to suit your style and the space you’re working with.

“Just Google It”

Like we do in almost every area of life, if you need help with something, just Google it. The image search feature of Google can be a particularly useful way of finding inspiration for your new kitchen. Whether you’re searching for ‘grey kitchens,’ ‘shaker kitchens’ or ‘modern kitchens’ an image search will provide you with pages and pages of images to scroll through until you find the one that makes you go ‘oooh’.
